Work With Me
I help developer-focused companies improve onboarding, documentation, and developer experience.
Most developer products don’t have a technology problem.
They have a “getting started” problem.
And now your first user might be an AI agent.
A new user signs up, hits friction, and quietly leaves before their first success. Teams rarely see where, because they’ve been too close to the product for too long.
And it’s only getting harder. Developers now reach for AI coding tools first, so your docs, samples, and APIs have to make sense to an LLM before a human ever reads them. If an agent gets stuck or invents the wrong API call, your product never gets a fair shot.
That’s where I help. I review the whole developer journey, from first visit to first success, and pinpoint where people get confused, frustrated, or give up.
Over 15 years in developer relations, developer education, and product, including roles at Amazon, Retool, and DigitalOcean.
What I can help with
Developer Onboarding Reviews
A hands-on review of your onboarding experience. I go through your product like a new developer would, looking at:
- Sign-up and first-run experience
- Documentation and getting started guides
- Sample apps and code examples
- Developer workflows
- AI-assisted onboarding experiences
You get clear findings, recommendations, and a prioritized list of improvements.
AI Readiness Review
More developers discover products through AI tools before they ever read the docs. I check how well tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini can work with your product, looking at:
- Discoverability: whether AI tools recommend and describe you correctly
- Accuracy: whether the major models have current, correct info about your product
- Docs for agents: whether your docs and code samples are structured for agents to parse and use
- Agent task success: where coding agents get stuck or invent wrong API calls building with your product
You get a clear picture of how AI-ready your product is, and what to fix.
Ongoing DX Advisor
Need a second set of eyes on an ongoing basis? I work with teams to review onboarding changes, documentation, developer education efforts, and new product experiences as they evolve.
Not sure if this fits?
The examples above are the kinds of projects I help with most often, but they’re not the only ones.
